Winners of the last Housekeeping Awards

7 December 2022

Housekeeping Awards

The last time we held the Housekeeping Awards was in March 2020, mere days before we were all locked down by a certain pandemic. Three long years later and they are back! Now in its 12th year, this event is about recognising and rewarding your team; giving them the thanks they deserve! It is an exciting, fun competition with interactive tasks and some great team building.

The competition takes place in teams of two across the four categories noted.

  1. Under 50 rooms
  2. 50-99 rooms
  3. 100-149 rooms
  4. 150 rooms and over

All entrants are required to attend the assessment day on 1st February. It is completely free to enter and take part. The assessment day will be run in two equal-sized groups so your actual assessment time will depend on the number of entrants. You can specify a preference when applying.

Following the assessment day, a shortlist of the top teams will be drawn up and announced on our website. Each finalist hotel will then receive a visit from a professional housekeeping inspector. This inspector will score the cleanliness of bedrooms and public areas. This score, combined with the team scores, will be used to determine the winners.

Teams interested in taking part should complete the short online form available at nihf.co.uk by Friday 20th January.

The Assessment Day will run as follows:

Assessment Day
Wednesday 1st February 2023
at 9.30 am or 1.00 pm
Clayton Hotel Belfast

Entries must be made by Friday 20th January 2023.

All finalist teams will receive two free tickets to the Awards Gala Ball. The winners of each category will receive individual prizes and each winning hotel will get a trophy. Finalists will receive a certificate. Entrants, finalists and winners will be featured in press and on social media.

The winning teams will be announced at a special Awards Dinner on Wednesday 8th March in Titanic Hotel Belfast. All finalist teams will receive two free tickets to this dinner and all hotels are encouraged to come along in support of their staff and colleagues. The dinner will be compered by Barra Best.

The Housekeeping Awards are supported by Tourism Northern Ireland, Bunzl Rafferty Guest Amenities, Linencare, Bath Fitter and King Koil Beds.
