Ask for Angela

We are working with the Police Service of Northern Ireland to roll out the safety initiative ‘Ask for Angela’ to local hotels and other licensed businesses.

This means that people who feel unsafe, vulnerable or threatened can discreetly approach trained venue staff and ask them for ‘Angela’.

This code-phrase will indicate to staff that they require help. This might be through reuniting them with a friend, seeing them to a taxi, or by calling venue security and/or Police.

If you want to be a venue that supports ‘Ask for Angela’ please register below and you will be sent a training package.

The training explores what vulnerability is, how to identify it and appropriate interventions to take.

A range of online assets are available for download, including promotional materials for local venues to print and use during December when the scheme will be publicly launched.

We know that the hospitality sector across Northern Ireland works hard to create safe places for people to go out and have fun. ‘Ask for Angela’ is another way that you can make your customers feel even safer.
