Data Protection Beware of false requests for registration under the Data Protection Act.Letters are currently being sent to hotels and guesthouses in Northern Ireland asking for registration and payment of a £95 fee to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998. These requests are entirely false and the companies involved have no connection with the Data Protection Register.
All businesses that use data such as employee records or guest histories ARE required to register but the actual annual fee is only £35 and registration should be done directly with the Data Protection Register.
More information can be obtained by contacting the Federation office or from the official website www.dpr.org.uk
